Tandoori Chicken Wraps

These are the wraps I am probably most famous for in my family. Every single person loves them. My husband Faraaz, my father-in-law, my brother-in-law, and even my own family always ask me to make these whenever we get together. They are full of flavor, easy to make, and once you grill the wrap at the end with cheese melting inside, they taste absolutely incredible.

INGREDIENTS:

For the Chicken

  • 2 chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips
  • 3 tablespoons yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon oil

For the Wraps

  • 4 tortillas, pita, or naan
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • Cucumber slices (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

Sauce Options

Option 1 – Creamy Garlic Yogurt Sauce

  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • A squeeze of lemon juice
  • Mix everything together until smooth.

Option 2 – Spicy Mayo Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard paste
  • 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
  • Mix everything together until smooth.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Marinate the chicken: Mix yogurt, garlic paste, ginger paste, smoked paprika, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, salt, lemon juice, and oil in a bowl. Add chicken strips and coat well. Let it marinate for at least 20–30 minutes.
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat a pan on medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for 8–10 minutes until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  3. Prepare the sauce: Choose either sauce option and mix the ingredients together.
  4. Assemble the wraps: Warm the tortillas or pita. Add lettuce, chicken, tomatoes, onions, and cucumber.
  5. Add sauce and cheese: Drizzle your preferred sauce over the filling and add a generous amount of shredded cheese.
  6. Grill the wrap: Fold the wrap tightly and place it on a hot pan or grill. Cook 1–2 minutes on each side until crispy with grill marks and the cheese melts inside.

Tips

Let the chicken cook well so it gets slightly charred for the best flavor.

Warm the wraps before filling them so they roll easily without breaking.

Grilling the wrap at the end gives it crispy texture and beautiful grill marks.

Adding cheese before grilling makes the wrap extra rich and delicious.
